The education system is a big pile of mess. It’s not a hidden fact. The student loan debts are at an all-time high and most people won’t ever be able to pay out their loans. On top of it, the system is plagued with corrupt officials and exploitation by the ‘elites’.
Last year a major scandal broke out. There was a criminal conspiracy to influence undergraduate admissions decisions at numerous top American universities. Among the accused were the parents of the social media influencer Oliva Jade.
“I’m not trying to victimize myself, I don’t want pity.”
Around 53 people, including some influential parents, were charged as part of the conspiracy after William Rick Singer, organizer of the scheme, pleaded guilty and cooperated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in gathering incriminating evidence against everyone involved with him in the scam.
Olivia’s parents Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli were found guilty of being involved in the college entrance exam cheating scandal. Since then the Starkid YouTuber has kept a low profile. However, the 21-year old influencer finally talked about it when she appeared on Tuesday’s episode of ‘Red Table Talk’.
Olivia Jade’s Net Worth was close to $1.5 Million
Prior to the ‘Operation Varsity Blues’ scandal that landed her parents in prison, Olivia was doing extremely well for herself. She had collaborations with major brands like Sephora.
According to the well-renowned CEO of a social media marketing agency, an influencer in the likes of Olivia Jade, who already has a celebrity value attached to her name, would have been making somewhat around $10,000 to $15,000 for each Instagram post and YouTube video. This amount could’ve been as high as $25,000 per post.
Since her parent’s conviction, Olivia faced some major setbacks. Not only did she turn off the comments on her social media, but she also lost some of her sponsorship deals including her Olivia Jade X Sephora Bronze & Illuminate Palette that she partnered on with Sephora.
Prior to all the controversy and scandals, the 21-year-old influencer’s net worth would’ve been somewhat close to $1.5 Million. But after facing the setbacks it’s expected to have dropped and is somewhere in the range of $500,000 to $1 Million.
Olivia Breaks Her Silence
Back in August, Olivia’s mother, Lori Loughlin was sentenced to serve two months in prison for her involvement in the admissions scandal. While her father, Mossimo was sentenced to five months in prison.
Olivia had never publicly addressed the scandal since then. But on Tuesday’s episode, the influencer finally broke her silence. She said,
“I don’t deserve pity. We messed up. I just want a second chance to be like I recognize I messed up. I think that this has been a really eye-opening experience for me, and although there’s a lot of negativity around it and there’s a lot of mistakes and wrongdoings, it’s led me to have a completely different outlook on a lot of situations.”
