A lot has happened during this year’s Presidential Elections. Ever since Democrat nominee Joe Biden took the lead during the vote count, President Trump and the Republicans have been making claims of mass-scale voter fraud and hindered a smooth tradition of governance to President-elect Joe Biden and his administration.

With the United States Presidential Inauguration just days away, Biden has announced Xavier Becerra as his pick for the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Becerra is currently serving as the Attorney General for the state of California.

Xavier Becerra’s net worth is approximately $2 Million

The 62-year-old Attorney General of California has an estimated net worth of approximately $2 Million

Becerra received his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1984. During the initial days of his law career, Becerra used to work on cases involving individuals who had mental disorders for the Legal Assistance Corporation of Central Massachusetts.

From 1987 to 1990, he served as the Assistant Attorney General in the California Justice Department. He later entered the House Of Representatives seat in 1992 and won against Republican nominee Morry Waksberg 58%–24%. Becerra was again re-elected in the 1994 elections.

In 2016, Xavier Becerra took the office of Attorney General of California after accepting the offer from Governor Jerry Brown. He became the first Latino to serve as California’s attorney general. He went on to be elected to a full four-year term after he defeated Steven Bailey, the Republican challenger, by securing 61% votes.

During his decades-long political and law career, Xavier Becerra has amassed quite a fortune. According to opensecrets.orgas of 2017, Becerra had an estimated net worth of $1,508,520. His real estate assets are in the range of $925,000, whereas Xavier Becerra’s Securities and Investments were somewhat around $20,000. He also had three liabilities in the form of mortgages ranging somewhere between $315,003 to $650,000.

Becerra will face a daunting challenge

President-elect Joe Biden’s choice of Xavier Becerra as the Secretary of Health and Human Services was quite surprising. If the Senate confirms Becerra’s nomination, he is the first Latino to be in charge of the department.

Becerra has been on the frontline of legal efforts in health care. He leads 20 states and the District of Columbia in a campaign to protect the Affordable Care Act from being dismantled by the Republicans. It is probably the reason why Biden decided over his name only a few days back.

Upon his confirmation as the Secretary of HHS, Becerra will be facing quite a challenge as he will have to come up with a strategy to lead the department at a critical juncture of the COVID pandemic as the virus takes more and more lives everyday.
