A former professional baseball player, Charlie Haeger who was accused of shooting his Ex-Girlfriend was found dead on Saturday by a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the Grand Canyon, police said.
The body of Charles Haeger was found on a trail along the South Rim of the National Park in northern Arizona, Sgt around 4 pm. Ben Hoster, a Scottsdale Police Department spokesman revealed the information on Saturday night.
Charlie Haeger was a Pitcher for MLB and had played 5 seasons. According to Police, he was on the run after being accused of the murder of a 34-year-old ex-girlfriend, Danielle Breed, inside her home in Scottsdale.
Apparently, the couple had broken up several months back and Danielle Breed had Restraining order against Charles Haeger as he was Cyberstalking her.
The early life of Charles Haeger
He was born on September 19, 1983, in Livonia, Michigan. He attended Detroit Catholic Central High School in Redford, Michigan. As a Sophomore, he was the winning pitcher in the State Championship game.
A brief on Charlie’s Career
In 2001, he got selected in the 25th round of the 2001 MLB draft by the Chicago White Sox. He later took a break from Baseball and turned to Golf but again returned in 2004. He did his MLB debut on May 10, 2006, against the Los Angeles Angels.
In 2008, he was taken by the San Diego Padres. He made 4 appearances then was transferred to Los Angeles Dodgers. He signed the minor contract with them in 2009 and played 6 games. Then in November 2009, he signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners and then played with the Boston Red Sox till the 2011 season and ended his Baseball career. As of 2020, he had a net worth of 1 million dollars.
Accusations and Death
On October 2, Danielle Breed’s roommate called 911, from their neighbor’s home.
Apparently, the roommate heard the gunshots coming from the room of Danielle and then saw Charlie Haeger coming out from the room with the gun in his hand. He had also pointed the gun at the roommate but the roommate managed to run out of the house and call the police from a neighbor’s phone.
Charlie Haeger was on the run after that. But the very next day, on October 3, he was found dead. Apparently, it is said that he committed suicide as the wound was self-inflicted.
Ms Breed’s mother had earlier told Fox 10 Phoenix that she had spoken to her daughter’s minutes before she was murdered.
“I want him to turn himself in. He broke a lot of people,” Jane Long said. “He shattered a lot of people today and he knows that. He knows that he knows how close our family was. “He used to come to the family gatherings and we’re talking about having 30 people 40 people every month.”
