Rush Hudson Limbaugh III was born on January 12, 1951. He is an American radio personality, conservative political commentator, author, and former television show host.
He is best known as the host of his radio show The Rush Limbaugh Show, which has been in national syndication on AM and FM radio stations since 1988. The 69-year-old was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Rush Hudson Limbaugh II and Mildred Carolyn Limbaugh.
Biographer Zev Chafets says that most of the host life was spent trying to keep up with his father’s expectations and gaining his respect. His father was a lawyer and a U.S. fighter pilot who served in the China Burma India Theater of World War II.
The family includes many lawyers, including his grandfather, father, and brother. His uncle, Stephen N. Limbaugh Sr., was a federal judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. His cousin, Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr., is a judge in the same court, appointed by George W. Bush. Limbaugh’s grandfather, Rush Limbaugh Sr., was a Missouri prosecutor, judge, special commissioner, member of the Missouri House of Representatives in the 1930s, and longtime president of the Missouri Historical Society.
But unlike his family, the host had a different academic life. He graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School.
At only age 16 he worked his first radio job at KGMO, a local radio station in Cape Girardeau. Because of his parents’ desire to see him attend college, he enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University but dropped out after two semesters.

Fights with Lung Cancer
Rush Limbaugh disclosed the news of him suffering from cancer in February. He first went for a check-up in January when he was suffering due to a breath shortage.
Rush has said that he has been going through a lot of treatments until a recent scan shows that cancer had progressed.
“I am extremely grateful to be able to come here to the studio and to maintain as much normalcy as possible,” he said that he would still work while going through the treatment.
