There is no other Medical drama which is as interesting and juicy as Grey’s Anatomy. We know season 17 is coming and we can’t sit still. Grey’s anatomy season 16 finished on April 9 and we thought that’s it. The show’s over because we got that kind of a feeling and on top of that, because of the pandemic show lost its last four episodes as they couldn’t film it.
Season 16 and lots of drama: (Spoilers ahead!)
It’s no Grey’s Anatomy season if it’s not filled with emotions flowing and drama on the way. And that’s exactly how season 16 got wrapped up. Our favorite Grey-Sloan team finally found out what was wrong with Dr. Richard Webber, Dr. DeLuca still struggling with his mental health, Amelia gave birth to her and Link’s son, Owen found Teddy cheated on him with fellow doc Tom Koracick, chemistry is still going on between Dr. Meredith Grey and Dr. Cormac Hayes and sadly Alex Karev leaving as Justin Chambers who played that the role left the show.
So lot has happened in the season 16 and we can definitely expect more drama in the next season.
When the season finally be out?
The creative heads of the show don’t have the fixed date to tell us when they’ll start the shooting because of the Coronavirus pandemic. But Showrunner Krista Vernoff spoke to the Hollywood Reporter and revealed writers will start working again in early May. As the show is from ABC, we know in other normal circumstances show would’ve returned in September but nothing is fixed now.
Vernoff also went ahead and shared,” “We’re waiting to see what happens with the world. I will start a season 17 writers room in May, and at that point, I imagine our conversation will be about starting our story from where we left off in season 16. But I don’t think we can take unproduced scripts that we didn’t shoot and shoot them. We’re going to have had a break and have new ideas. We’ve been texting each other ideas already. Some of those things that we had decided, we’re changing because we’ll have had a break and have come up with better ideas. And some of it is going to have to change because you’re taking what was going to be a regular episode and have to turn it into a season premiere and that will require some reimagining.”
Though on August 5, Ellen Pompeo tweeted and gave fans updates that the cast and crew are hoping to get back to work in a few weeks.
Will there be any changes in the cast?
Grey’s Anatomy is famous for drastic changes in the cast. Then it might be changing them or actors departing the show. But Vernoff also put a hold on that doubt and informed the fans that, “There are no notable cast member departures happening between seasons.” Thank god!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Richard Flood and Anthony Hill are officially series regulars.
Whereas, Stefania Spampinato who played DeLuca’s sister, Carina, will be transitioning to a series regular role on Station 19, firefighter spin-off.
New Season is going to have episodes for Covid-19 Pandemic
According to Entertainment Weekly, during Emmys.com Panel, Vernoff shared, “We’re going to address this pandemic for sure. “There’s no way to be a long-running medical show and not do the medical story of our lifetimes. Every year we have doctors come and tell us their stories, and usually they’re telling their funniest or craziest stories. This year it has felt more like therapy,” she continued, “The doctors come in and we’re the first people they’re talking to about these types of experiences they’re having. They are literally shaking and trying not to cry, they’re pale, and they’re talking about it as war—a war that they were not trained for. And that’s been one of our big conversations about Owen, is that he’s actually trained for this in a way that most of the other doctors aren’t. I feel like our show has an opportunity and a responsibility to tell some of those stories.”
And we can’t wait to see how this new season turns out. Because there is no doubt that it is going to be hell of more interesting than any other seasons.
