The TV icon was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March 2019. Though, he never let his disease come in a way of his career. He kept no secrets from his fans and came out in a video message titled “A message from Alex Trebek” on March 6 2019. He wittily said in that clip:
“Just like 50,000 other people in the U.S. each year, this week I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Now normally the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working, and with the love and support of my family and friends, and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease. Truth told I have to, because, under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy! for three more years. So help me keep the faith, and we’ll win. We’ll get it done. Thank you.”
It’s quite evident that he was built differently and became an inspiration for us to look up to.

Cancer overpowered him on Sunday, November 8, 2020, and the jeopardy host was no more with us. He was surrounded by his loved ones which included his lovely wife of 30 years, Jean Currivan Trebek, and their three children, Matthew, Emily, and Nicky at the time of departure. He lived a grand life of 80 years.

The road to millions wasn’t a cakewalk for Alex. There was a time in the life of this Guinness world record holder trying to figure out what he wanted from life. Born on July 22, 1940, in Ontario, Canada, to working parents.
Alex was built to fight battles, in his early days he fought the battle of money and when he had surplus money he fought the battle against cancer.
To help his family financially he started working at the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC). His exemplary work caught the eye of the authorities and he was offered a full-time gig as a staff announcer after his graduation in 1961. After this, things went all uphill for him.
Alex loved Jeopardy! the way he loved his children.
Alex has never imagined himself hosting a trivia game show and the fates were writing him a different story. It was in 1983 when he was made familiar with the show. After years of failure, the show reached millions of views when Alex decided to make it his own by not just hosting it but also producing it.
