If you think that Avatar: The Last Airbender was one of the best-animated shows you watched as a child, then we have some great news for you. As you might have heard already, Netflix is planning a live-action Avatar series, but now according to recent reports, Netflix is planning a live-action version of The Legend of Korra as well.

We all know that the Avatar and Korra franchises have a religious fan flowing, one that can be proved by the countless reviews and fans support it has received in the years following its release.

What we know about the The Legend of Korra; Live-action adaptation

Recently, we learned that Netflix was working behind the scenes on a new and upcoming live-action version of the Avatar. We also heard that it received heavy backlash fro fans on twitter when original creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino left the project citing creative differences. Netflix has since announced that it is confident in the creative team’s ability and the project is moving forward.

Avatar: The Last Airbender was previously adapted as a live-action movie in 2010, directed by M. Night Shyamalan. However, it faced many criticism and casting was one of them. The world of Avatar and Korra is filled with diverse characters with varied backgrounds and cultures but the live-action movie was almost entirely made of white actors.

This did not go down well with fans who were expecting a more diverse cast as was originally depicted in the Nickelodeon version.

Future versions of these fan-favourite series have an opportunity to expand on the diversity of the cast and bring the breathtaking world of Four Nations to life. Here are some picks who could The Legend of Korra’s characters in live-action!

Korra – Devery Jacobs

Legend of Korra begins with the character complete her training and become a full-fledged Avatar making her way in the world. She is full of enthusiasm and power but does not have any practical experience. A perfect role for actress Devery Jacobs who is known for playing Lilith Bathory in Netflix supernatural series ‘The Order’ and Sam Black Crow in ‘American Gods’

Mako- Manny Jacinto

Actor Manny Jacinto achieved recognition as the dumb but endearing monk, DJ Jason Mendoza in NBC’s ‘The Good Place’. It would be thrilling to see him play the fiery character of Mako in the live-action version of Korra.

Bolin – Ki Hong Lee

Bolin is the stark opposite of Mako who is serious, brooding, and popular with the ladies. Bolin is stupid but makes up for it by his goofiness and has a strong attachment to his family. Actor Ki Hong Lee who has taken on both comedic and serious action roles, playing Dong Nguyen in Netflix’s ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’  and Minho in the ‘Maze Runner’ movies is perfect for the character.

Although there has been a swirl of criticisms behind these two Netflix adaptation, we can all agree that if it manages to meet the audience’s expectations, it could be one of Netflix’s greatest hits.

Here’s to hoping we get to see that. Stay tuned for more updates!
