Her parents, Daryl and Jeanne Schiff, owned a dairy farm, and her father also ran a cabinetry shop. It was her father who introduced her to country music at a young age. Martina developed a deep love for singing, and she spent hours singing along to records of artists like Reba McEntire, Linda Ronstadt, Juice Newton, Jeanne Pruett, Connie Smith, and Patsy Cline.

At a young age, around eight or nine, she began singing with her father’s band, “The Schiffters.” Over time, her role in the band expanded, and she started playing the keyboard as well. She enjoyed performing and developed her musical skills during this period.
