Erika Jayne of RHBH fame is once again making the news. The Reality TV star, also known for singing some of the popular dance clubs hits over the last two decades will soon be divorcing her long time husband.

Erika initially started out as an actress in the early 1990s. She made her first on-screen debut with NBC’s legal drama ‘Law & Order’. Her next few roles were in indie films like Alchemy (1995) and Lowball (1996).

Erika revealed that she is taking this decision after ‘much consideration’. She made the following statement regarding her filing for divorce. 

 “It is my absolute wish to proceed through this process with respect and with the privacy that both Tom and I deserved. I request others give us that privacy as well.

Since she has her own record company and several brand tie-ups, the divorce will mostly not have any drastic effects on the 49-year-old singer’s net worth.

The journey from the suburbs of Atlanta to the glamour of Beverly Hills

Erika was born on July 10, 1971, to a single mother. Her mother, Rene Chahoy, was also an actress and a trained classical pianist. 

During her time at North Atlanta High School Erika enrolled in a magnet program for performing arts. She went on to star in several high school musicals. She also scored many modeling and local commercial gigs when was a child. 

When she turned 18, Erika decided to move to New York where she performed as a member of various girl groups. Soon after moving to New York, she got married to a DJ she met at a club. But a few years later the couple divorced after which she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her ‘showbiz‘ dreams.

After starring in an episode of Law & Order and a few indie films, Erika got married to attorney Thomas Girardi, a founding partner of the LA law firm Girardi & Keese

Erika finally released her first dance music single ‘Roller Coaster’ in 2007, after spending most of her early 30’s “living the life of a lawyers’ wife.” The song ended up being her first entry into the Billboard Hot Dance Club Party, that too the top position.

Things seemed to be all nice and good until she recently announced her decision to end her 21-year-old marriage with her husband Thomas Girardi.
