Lil Durk was born on the 19th of October in the year 1992 in Chicago in Illinois. Lil Durk grew up with the responsibility of looking after his family as his father had been burnt alive when he was just seven months old. He first rose to fame through social media platforms like MySpace and YouTube. He took more interest in his rap career after he noticed he was being recognized and after he became a father at 17.
Lil Durk was a student at Paul Robeson High School and he dropped out in his senior year to become a member of Black Disciples. He had various run-ins with the Chicago police and in 2011 he was arrested for possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number and he, however, pled guilty. In 2014 on the 31st of May, Lil Durk lost his cousin, rapper McArthur “OTF Nunu” Swindle to murder. In the following year on the 27th of March, Lil Durk’s friend and manager, Uchenna “OYG Chino Dolla” Agina was shot dead. Five years went by and just as Lil Durk thought everything was going to be fine, on the 6th of November in 2020, Lil Durk’s closest childhood friend and the famous rapper, King Von was murdered in Atlanta.
