Thomas Jonathan Ossoff is an American Politician and a journalist. He is the nominee for the 2020 U.S. Senate Election in George for the Democratic Party and is contesting against the Republican’s Senator David Perdue.
Jon Ossoff is also the Managing Director and CEO of Insight TWI, an investigative TV production company based in the UK, since 2013. The company creates documentaries on corruption in other countries and its production of BBC’s documentaries on the ISIS war crimes and death squads are some of the notable ones.
Charles Bethea of The New Yorker claimed that Ossoff has “progressive positions on women’s issues and health care and moderate stances on jobs and security”.

Jon Ossoff Debated an Empty Podium
On 6th December 2020, Ossoff debated an empty podium after Senator Perdue refused to participate. Ossoff stated during the debate, while addressing the youth and encouraging them to vote.
“My opponent didn’t show up for our debate, but I need you to show up on December 14th for early voting.”
The sheer confidence of Ossoff to debate an empty podium is commendable. On being asked what he would have asked Perdue had he appeared for the debate, Ossoff said,
“If the senator were not too much of a coward to debate in public, then that’s what I’d ask him.“
His Political Position Has Been Appreciated by Democrats
On multiple occasions, Ossoff has been critical of the Trump Administration calling it a “divisive approach to government”. He is a supporter of abortion rights and access to contraception and his supporters have invoked his stance and have openly supported his stance.
Ossoff also holds progressive views on the environment and has admitted stating, “climate change is a threat to our security and prosperity“.
According to Vox, “Ossoff ran an “Obama-style campaign” in his 2017 election and had placed himself in the middle between grassroots progressive activists in the Democratic Party and the more conservative and moderate Blue Dog Democrats”.

Jon Ossoff, was born on Feb 16,1987 to a Jewish family in Atlanta, Georgia. His father, Richard Ossoff is an owner of Stanford Publications, a specialist in a publishing company whereas his mother, Heather Fenton, is an Australian and is a co-founder of NewPower PAC.
Jon Ossoff, after earning a bachelor’s degree in Foreign services, went on earn a Master’s degree in London School of Economics in 2013. Jon is married to Alisha Kramer.
