The clip was taken from an episode of BBC Two cooking program Nigella’s Cook, Eat, Repeat, in which she was seen mentioning the appliance.

Many wondered if they had all been pronouncing microwave the wrong way. While others made fun of her pompous colonial heritage and mannerisms. Nonetheless, her pronunciation caused a stir on social media.

“Well, I do say it like that, but not because I think that’s how it’s actually pronounced.”
