NBC announces when ‘This Is Us Season 5″ returns in its fall 2020 schedule

When This is Us wrapped its fourth season finale in March 2020, fans wondered when the hit drama would return with new episodes .

The coronavirus pandemic shut down production for many projects. So, the future of television remained largely uncertain. But now, NBC has officially unveiled their schedule for the upcoming fall, which includes This Is Us Season 5

On June 16, NBC Entertainment announced its fall 2020 lineup. The schedule didn’t detail exact dates. However, the news confirmed which days of the week and what time shows will air.

Now, if all goes according to plan, This Is Us Season 5 will return to NBC on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. ET. This means fans won’t have to rearrange their schedule, as the show received the same time slot as previous seasons.

There are so many ways to watch This Is Us season 5

If you don’t catch the first airing, you can typically watch new episodes via NBC’s on-demand feature 24 hours after they air.

The show will also be available for streaming at NBC.com/this-is-us/episodes. The NBC app additionally has episodes you can download, and Hulu subscribers can stream an episode the day after it airs.

There’s even a live TV function on Hulu that will allow you to tune in on your mobile device.

The new season will be about rebirth

The theme for season four was an expansion of new characters and ambitious storylines. Fogelman says season five, however, will be about uplifting moments and new beginnings.

Fogelman also said ,

“I would call it almost a rebirth that will come next season. [There will be ] a lot of new beginnings and particularly the words birth and rebirth are going to be a big thematic part of next season.”

The main cast will return

Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K.Brown, Justin Hartley, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Chris Sullivan will all be back, along with recurring characters like Madison (Caitlin Thompson) and Jack Damon ( Blake Stadnik).

While it may not seem that there’s much to uncover in past storylines, Jack and Rebecca will always be in the show in those past timelines, plus younger versions of the kids.

As for the future storylines, Fogelman says the show will continue to move forward into later years and not just the deep future, where Jack Jr. lives.

It’s so interesting to think we started with Rebecca and Jack, with him sitting with a towel, and then decades later there will be all these human beings that will be these human beings that will be offshoots of these people.

Season 5 is the second to last season of the show.

We hate to see it go, but all good things must come to an end. We know this because showrunner Issac Aptaker previously said the team was working on “three seasons in the future” while season 3 was airing.

According to Deadline, Issac told them, he hoped that when they reach the ending, people think it’s a really satisfying end place that makes sense, and it feels like we have watched something that is a complete piece of work because that’s really how they are trying to plan it.

Chrissy spilled and told People more about Kate’s journey. She told me that there is a story, a through-line, coming down the pike about some experiences that shaped Kate as a woman, as an adult, that we haven’t seen yet. She added that it’s “ trauma for sure.”
