The actress Charisma Carpenter posted a statement against Joss Whedon for receiving mistreatment and abuse on the set of ‘Buffy and the Vampire Slayer and Angel’ from Whedon.

Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase on Buffy, tweeted a statement asserting that Whedon had “abused his power on numerous occasions” and formed a “hostile and toxic work environment” while she worked with him on the set of the iconic tv show. 

She stated that Whedon described her “fat” to colleagues when she was 4 months pregnant and asked her if she was “going to keep it,” and then fired her after she gave birth. In the tweet, Carpenter said “Joss has a history of being casually cruel,”. She continued “While he found his misconduct amusing, it only served to intensify my performance anxiety, disempower me, and alienate me from my peers.”

Carpenter said that the incidents that took place triggered a “chronic physical condition” that she still lives with.

Another Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar posted her own support statement after Carpenter’s statement, which Michelle reposted on her Instagram

Michelle shared her experience with Whedon on the set of Buffy saying: “There was a rule. Saying. He’s not allowed in a room alone with Michelle again.” 

“This must. Be known. As a teenager,” Michelle said in the statement. “With his not appropriate behavior….very. Not. Appropriate. So now. People know. What Joss. Did.” 

Michelle specified that her latest update to her comment was “The last. Comment I will make on this.” 

Moreover, Eliza Dushku, who was starred in Buffy and Angel and Whedon’s Doll House posted a statement in support of Carpenter stating “CC … I’m so sorry you have held this for so long. … I hadn’t known it and I won’t forget it.”

Joss Whedon, 56, was born on the 23rd of June in the year 1964 in New York City, U.S. He has a background in filmmaking, his father Tom Whedon was a screenwriter who wrote for the American sitcom Alice in the 1970s and The Golden Girls in the 1980s. His grandfather John Whedon worked on The Donna Reed Show in the 1950s and The Dick Van Dyke Show in the 1960s and wrote for the radio show The Great Gildersleeve. His mother, Ann Lee Stearns, from Kentucky worked as a teacher at Riverdale Country School. Joss has four siblings named Samuel, Matthew Whedon, Jed, and Zack Whedon.

Joss attended Riverdale Country School in New York City and followingly spent three years at Winchester College in England. Joss completed his graduation in 1987 from Wesleyan University.

Joss married the architect, producer, and co-founder of Bellwether Pictures, Kai Cole, in 1995. The couple together has two children. The couple got separated in 2012 and divorced in 2016.
