On Monday, Google and its popular email service Gmail experienced issues for thousands of users largely based in the United States. The Gmail issues appear to be impacting the East Coast near cities such as New York and Boston as well as areas on the West Coast near San Francisco and Los Angeles. Based on the live outage map available on Down Detector, it also looks like areas near Houston and Dallas in Texas also suffered outages.

According to reports on social media and the website –outage firm Down Detector, the Gmail issues appear to be impacting the East Coast near cities such as New York and Boston as well as areas on the West Coast near San Francisco and Los Angeles. It also looks like arrears near Houston and Dallas in Texas also suffered outages, based on the live outage map available on Down Detector.
Sources say that the problems with Gmail started at 10:13 a.m. ET, while the issues with Google began at 2:09 p.m. ET, according to Down Detector. At the time of writing, the website has received more than 4,000 reports from users experiencing problems with Google and Gmail.
It was first posted by the search giant about the service disruption at 2:53 p.m., saying that it was investigating reports of an issue with Gmail after user complaints surfaced on Down Detector and Outage Report, another website that tracks outages across popular websites.
The dashboard read, “Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better,”
In March, Google and Google Drive went down for thousands of users worldwide, and Apple’s iCloud service saw an outage that affected products like Find My iPhone, Contacts, and Mail.
Facebook and other social apps it owns, such as Instagram and WhatsApp, were down for more than eight hours in May. The company attributed the issue to a “server configuration change”.
