Following 10 seasons as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, veteran tight end Kyle Rudolph has been released by the team. The release was confirmed by the team on Tuesday

Drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Rudolph,31 will become a free agent for the first time in his career. Releasing Rudolph will save Minnesota $5.1 million against the salary cap for 2021.

Rudolph said in an article on The Players’ Tribune, “Thank you Minnesota!! Although my time as a Viking has come to a close, my time as a MINNESOTAN is just getting started!“. 

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said, “Kyle and [his wife] Jordan have made such an immeasurable impact on our team and community that may never be matched,“. He continued, “The energy they have invested in the community, most notably through the End Zone at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, is truly remarkable. I admire Kyle and we will miss him and his family. We sincerely wish them the best.” 

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins in a tweet called Rudolph “the smartest player I’ll ever play with“. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer also praised Rudolph. 

Kyle has been a leader and mentor for us on and off the field from the first day I arrived in Minnesota,” Zimmer said. “He has been such an important part of this team and community throughout his career and it has been an honor to coach him the last seven seasons. He will be missed, and we wish him and his family nothing but the best.”

Kyle Rudolph was born on the 9th of November in the year 1989 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended Elder High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he played high school football for the Panthers. In 2008, Rudolph was named first-team All-American by USA Today after totaling 37 receptions for 673 yards and 11 touchdowns. 

Married to Jordan Rudolph

Kyle got married to Jordan Rudolph on February 13, 2016, in Cabo San Lucas. Later in October 2016, the couple was blessed with a pair of twin girls. The couple then in 2018 welcomed their third child, a son named Henry. The Rudolph family currently resides in Minnesota.
