Alexander Gilkes is a British businessman, co-founder of the company, Squared Circles. He was also the co-founder of Paddle8 until it was sold to The Native in 2018. Gilkes has been prominent in the media after being named as one of the “Most Creative Entrepreneurs” by Fast Company in 2017, “100 Most Powerful People in the Art World” by Art + Auction in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and one of the “40 Most Important People Under 40” by Apollo. According to WikiCelebs, Gilkes has a net worth of $20 Million. Based out of New York, Gilkes went to Eton College and the University of Bristol. Before founding Paddle8, he was an auctioneer at Philips de Pury & Company and worked at LVMH. He also served as an auctioneer for Raising Malawi, Elton John AIDS Foundation, and amFAR.

Gilkes then founded Paddle8 in 2010 and the company made sales of more than $140 Million in 2015. However, it was sold to The Native in 2018, following which he stepped down from the company. He co-founded Squared Circles which was launched in 2020.

Retired tennis player, Maria Sharapova announced her engagement to Gilkes on 17th December 2020. When Sharapova retired in February earlier this year, Gilkes shared a post paying tribute to her career,

The couple had begun dating in 2018 when they were spotted on a trip to the Cotswolds. After that, they were spotted on various occasions and events together like the Academy Awards. Gilkes also took to Instagram, sharing the news of their engagement, “Thank you for making me a very very happy boy. I look forward to a lifetime of loving you, and learning from you @mariasharapova”.
