Patricia Jenkins is an American director and screenwriter. Jenkins rose to fame after the 2017 superhero film, Wonder Woman. Her upcoming film, Wonder Woman 1984 is set to release on 25th December 2020.
Jenkins has also directed the pilot episode of The Killing, receiving a Primetime Emmy for “Outstanding Director for a Drama Series” and the Directors Guild of America for “Outstanding Directing in Dramatic Series”. She was placed sixth in Time’s Person of the Year in 2017.

Patty Jenkins’ To Become The First Woman To Helm A Star Wars Film
On 13th December 2020, it was announced that Jenkins would direct the upcoming Star Wars movie, Rogue Squadron, becoming the first woman to ever direct a Star Wars movie. The announcement was made during Disney’s Investor Day by Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy.

“We are thrilled to have the great Patty Jenkins directing our @StarWars feature film Rogue Squadron, and as a true admirer of her work, it is an honor to have Patty directing her next film for us!”
The film is set to focus on the fighter pilots which were introduced in the previous films.
Jenkins too shared the news on Twitter by sharing a video. She revealed that she would take inspiration from her fighter pilot father for the film and shared that she has always wanted to make “the greatest fighter pilot movie ever made”. Disney announced that the movie is set to release on Christmas 2023.
Patty Jenkins’ Personal Life
Jenkins mentions Gary Ross, Kathryn Bigelow, and Steve Perry among others as some of her mentors and influencers. Apart from directing and screen-writing, she is also an avid fan of music. She has revealed that she usually likes to discuss the process of music-making with Steve.
Jenkins married a former firefighter and author of the book, “A Fighter’s Heart”, Sam Sheridan in 2007. The couple has a son and they live in Santa Monica, California.
