While hosting a news show, Christiane Amanpour made a comment that saw her comparing Kristallnacht to Donald Trump’s four-year tenure as the president of the United States of America.
She received a lot of backlash and was also called on by the Anti-Defamation League, Trump administration and Israeli government as she said it in the context of Donald Trump drawing condemnation in U.S and Israel.
She apologized for her statement and she said,
“And finally tonight, a comment on my program at the end of last week. I observed the 82nd anniversary of Kristallnacht, as I often do – it is the event that began the horrors of the Holocaust,” “I also noted President Trump’s attacks on history, facts, knowledge, and truth. I should not have juxtaposed the two thoughts,” “Hitler and his evils stand alone, of course, in history. I regret any pain my statement may have caused. My point was to say how democracy can potentially slip away, and how we must always zealously guard our democratic values.”

Christiane Amanpour was born on the 12th of January, 1958. She is of British-Iranian descent and was raised in Ealing, a suburb in England.
Her father’s name was Mohammad Taghi and was a Muslim by religion. Her mother’s name was Patricia Anne Amanpour and was a Catholic.
Christiane Amanpour was raised in Tehran till she was eleven years old, which is also her father’s hometown. She then began studying at an all-girls convent school, Holy Angels Convent in Chalfont ST. Peter/ she also studied at New Hall School in Essex and after her education she moved to study journalism at the University of Rhode Island and also was a part of summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
