This year just doesn’t stop taking away. The Tony award-winning Broadway actor, dancer, and choreographer Ann Reinking died on Saturday in Washington.

“The lights on Broadway are forever more dim this morning and there is one less star in the sky. The good news is that heaven has the very best choreographer on earth now.”

Ann Reinking’s Net Worth is around $17 Million

The Seattle-born Broadway actor started dancing when she was a young girl. She made her Broadway debut with the musical ‘Cabaret’ when she was just 19 years old.

Since then she has had a prominent career as an actor, choreographer and dancer. According to idolnetworth.com, Ann Reinking has a net worth of approximately $17 Million.

Life and Legacy of Ann Reinking

There is no second-guessing the fact that the 71-year-old dancer was a Broadway legend. She began her career with the Seattle Opera House production of ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ in 1965.

However, Reinking is the best to know for her portrayal of Roxie Hart in 1977’s “Chicago”, a musical production by the theatre legend Bob Fosse. She was cast to replace Gwen Verdon who Fosse had a love-hate relationship.

Reinking was trained as a ballet dancer when she was a kid, but together with her collaboration with Fosse, she helped spread a cool, muscular hybrid of jazz movement to Broadway.

She and Fosse had quite a strong bond both on and off the stage. She was extremely in love with him and admired the legendary theatre director. She starred in his show Dancin’ and directed and co-choreographed a Broadway revue celebrating his work

Twenty years after the first run of Chicago, she reprised her role and won a Tony award for choreographing the revival of the musical in signature Fosse style. Some of her other Broadway roles were in “Sweet Charity,” “Over Here!” and “Goodtime Charley.”

The broadway actor also played a fictionalized version of herself in the movie “All That Jazz”, a movie based on the life of Bob Fosse. In the movie, she played the role of the love interest of the character that was based on Fosse. Reinking also starred in feature films like Annie (1982), Movie, Movie (1978), and the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom (2005).

The reason of her death has not yet been disclosed. According to her family she was visiting her brother in Washington. She is survived by her husband and a son. Her family said,

“The world and our family have lost a vibrant, amazing talent and beautiful soul. Ann was the heart of our family and the life of the party. She was visiting our brother in Washington state when she went to sleep and never woke up. We will miss her more than we can say. Heaven has the best choreographer available now. I’m sure they are dancing up a storm up there! Annie, we will love and miss you always!!!”
