John Allen Amos Jr. is an American actor popularly known for playing the role of James Evans on the CBS TV series Good Times. He received an Emmy nomination for his performance in the 1977 miniseries ‘Roots’.
He made his first debut in the 1970s show ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show, playing the role of Gordy Howard, the weatherman. He has also worked in other television programs such as ‘The West Wing’ playing the reappearing role as Admiral Percy Fitzwallace and playing the role of Washington DC mayor in the series ‘The District’.
In the year 1964, Amos endorsed himself with the American Football league’s Denver Broncos. But unfortunately, not able to complete the 40-yard dash because of a pulled hamstring, he was sent out on the second day of the training camp.
Amos has also played several supporting roles in the films, Die Hard 2, The BeastMaster, Coming to America.
In 2020, Amos was admitted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
