- iOS to bring a new change in the upcoming iOS 13
- It will limit the voice calling facilities of the ‘internet calling applications’
- Facebook and Whatsapp are might require to make a difference in their features.
The iOS 13 is the 13th major release of the iOS which is governed and developed by the Apple Inc. It is expecting to follow the success path of the iOS 12 which was released in 2018. At the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference on June 3, 2019, it was announced and is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2019.
Referring to the reports from several sources, iOS 13 is about to bring a big change with their release which might require Facebook and Whatsapp to reframe their features to be compatible with the new criteria of iOS 13. This small but pointable change has to do with how third-party apps use iOS to make internet voice calls. This latest move by Apple to increase user privacy and security detailed by The Information highlights that the change will restrict apps like Facebook and WhatsApp from being able to run the internet call API in the background.
Right now the calling features of these applications run in the background even though they are not in use which ensures that the apps can connect calls faster and also it leads that the applications would be collecting data and other information which does not ensure the proper security of the users. To make it sure that the users can use their device with a more secure way, iOS is about to restrict this background data collection feature.
It may have a specifically heavy impact on WhatsApp, which has been using the internet calling feature in a variety of ways, including for implementing the app’s end-to-end encryption. It would impact other messaging app developers who also long relied on the internet calling feature to keep their application to run background on Apple mobile devices.
The spokesperson of Apple inc. said. “To be clear—we are using the PushKit VoIP API to deliver a world-class, private messaging experience, not for the purpose of collecting data.” This means the applications which still use VoIP as their background they need to make a drastic redesigning in order to be compatible with the iOS 13 defaults.
Although messenger has tried to use the PushKit VoIP when it was spat in 2014 it is using the VoIP till now which they might to change to run in iOS 13. As it will not run background, it will make sure that it is fast and it will be well secured so that the user will not lose any data in the irrelevant application which is going on in the background.
These controversial conversations are tilled now not sorted because it requires few big changes in many of the features of both the mobile as well as the applications. But the Apple Inc. is hoping for quite good response and support from the mass consumer who is eventually the people to make this a success.
