A Farewell to “The Good Place”; The Maker’s take on the ending.

The NBC television network show, The Good Place starring Ted Danson, Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, and D’Arcy Carden has been announced to be cancelled by the network.

The show tells the story of a system where humans in their afterlife are sent to either The Good Place or The Bad Place depending on their karma and the life decisions they made while they were still alive.

After the launch of the season 4, the fans thought that the show was at a good place and demanded for a season renewal as it was also a long-running show, showcasing since the year 2016. However, all their plans for binge-watching the series were shattered when the network announced a statement against it.

The show production had been sending messages throughout season 4 that this would be the last season. Together with the network, the story closed on a great ending. The exact cause was explained by the spokespeople of all NBC called earlier for the show ending.

The Michael Schur-created comedy bid farewell in a special double episode which aired in the US on Thursday, January 30 and the UK on Friday, January 31.

The reason for the cancellation

The producer and maker of the show have stated officially that he was satisfied with the number of episodes he had worked on to put out. He was satisfied with the well running 50 episodes and felt good leaving the show at the place it was ended.

He also stated that he did think of making more seasons but wanted to give the show a good, unique end and then dropped the idea of going further with the creative process.

The representatives of NBC named Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta also shared their side of the reason for the end of the show:

“From the first day, The Good Place has been a crucial show for us and one that taps all the NBC touchpoints, especially bright, witty, inventive, and emotional. We understand the audience will like what Mike Schur and his authors have in store for the last season.”

About the show

The series starts with the death of the main character, Eleanor Shellstrop, played by Kristen Bell who ends up in heaven rather than going to hell where she truly belongs by mistake. She was introduced by Michael, the designer of the heaven- like- The Good Place and is assisted by Janet, an artificial being, accompanied by other lost souls- indecisive philosopher Chidi Anagonye, shallow socialite Tahani Al- Jamil, and blundering Blake Bortles super- fan, Jason Mendoza. Season 4 starts with Eleanor taking up the role of the architect of The Good Place.
